This photo was taken at the same rocky cove as the previous image. In fact, the rock at lower right in this photo is the rock as in the previous image. Most of the image adjustments were made to the raw file in Lightroom with some minor fine-tuning in Photoshop.
******** Workshop News *********
I finished up my last workshop of the year this past weekend and now I am looking forward to a month and a half of family time, welcoming the finished printed version of the The Creative Digital Darkroom book (which should be out by Dec. 15-18), and spending some quality creative time with my scanner and my inkjet printer.
My next workshop will be a 5-day class called Digital Black and White at the Lepp Institute along the beautiful central California coast February 18-22. Click the link for a course description.
Calendar: For those of you who have inquired about a new Holga or Pinhole calendar for 2008, the images have been selected and the calendar should be available by the end of this week (Nov. 25). Info on the new calendar will be posted in the left-hand column.

Hi Sean--Hope you and the family have a great holiday season!! Very nice black and white picture. You say you did most of the editing in Lightroom. Do you now prefer lightroom for B&W conversions or do you still favor Photoshop?

Darrell...thanks for the holiday wishes..same to you!
The black and white conversion controls in Lightroom are exactly the same as those in Camera Raw 4 (which comes with Photoshop CS3), as well as being essentially identical to the Black and White adjustment layer in Photoshop CS3. My aim is to apply as much of the global corrections to the raw file during the raw conversion process, be that in Lightroom or in Camera Raw. Since I use Lightroom for my initial image workflow tool, that is where I tend to apply those global raw adjustments.--Sean

Hi! Just discovered your blog, and I'm in awe of your photography.
You mentioned you do most of your work in Lightroom. Do you have a quick way to do double-exposure in Lightroom?
