Where the Sea Comes In, Maine [d-SLR]
(click in the image for a larger version)
This image was taken on July 1st on my last evening in Maine. It shows an inlet channel under a small rock bridge that allows the sea flow through into a narrow bay. The image was made from two tripod-mounted exposures designed to capture both the detail in the dark rocks and seaweed and the brooding dark clouds of the approaching storm. The original raw files were processed in Adobe Camera Raw and then composited together and re-interpreted using several adjustment layers and layer masks. I have included views of the two original files as well as the final Layers palette below.
This is one of the types of photographic and Photoshop technique that was covered in the Real World Digital Photography workshop I was teaching in Maine last week. I am teaching the same workshop in Santa Fe at the end of this month. The last time I checked there was only 1 space left.
A Level II version of the Real World Digital Photography class will be offered in Maine the last week of September. It is already beginning to fill up so if you are interested, registering sooner rather than later is probably a good idea.
What this image does not show is that I was being savagely marauded by fierce mosquitos as I was making the photographs. They were even landing on the camera and trying their luck there!
