I love prowling through antique stores simply because you just never know what sort of strange scene you might come across. Here's a memento I picked up this weekend in a nearby town.
Zeppelin and Platinum Blonde [Holga]

In August, 2005 we vacationed for two weeks on the Lake of Constance in southern Germany and stayed near the town of Friedrichshafen, which is where the Zeppelin was first developed in the first part of the last century (by the German count of the same name). Today, the modern version of the zeppelin still makes regular flights over the lake. In the U.S. this is referred to as a blimp but in German it is still called a zeppelin. I much prefer the latter term, or airship, both which I find to be more poetic than blimp (which is not poetic at all).
Last September I posted another image taken at this same location that also has the zeppelin soaring above the lake.
Mohawk Boy at the Lake [Holga]

Taken at the Lake of Constance (Bodensee) in southern Germany in August of 2005. The faint mountains you see in the distance is Switzerland. I took a series of shots at this beach, both Holga and digital. I just sat myself down on this mat leading into the water and let summer life at the lake happen around me. Eventually I sat there long enough that I became invisible, even with my cameras. That's when the magic happened. Mohawk boy was one of the more magical moments that afternoon.
Freeway Thunderstorm

Taken a week ago during a ferocious thunderstorm on Hwy 99 in central California. NOTE to the safety-conscious in the audience...I did not even look through the viewfinder to take this. I just held the camera up as the truck passed me, pointed it out the windshield and snapped the photo (a true "point and shoot" picture).
Here is the original image before I had my way with it in Photoshop (click the thumbnail to see it larger). This was modified using a series of adjustment layers to adjust the brightness and contrast (both globally and for specific areas), as well as add an uneven toning effect using two different strengths of a sepia tone. The final Layers palette for this image can be seen below (click to see a larger version where the layer names are more legible).
