Man Plowing Field Ollantaytambo, Peru [Canon 10D]

Another photo from last year's Bridges to Understanding workshop in Peru. This was taken on the same day as yesterday's photo. After spending the day in the village of Huilloq (pronounced "will-yuk") with our group of local school children, photographing traditional weavers and the glacial river that supplies Ollantaytambo with water, we rode down the dirt mountain road in the back of an open truck.
A few miles outside of the town of Ollantaytambo, which was our main location for the workshop, a group of us stopped to photograph a water storage tank for the story about the importance of water that one group of kids were working on. The truck continued into town with the rest of the group and, after photographing the tank, we walked the remaining distance back into town.
Along the way, we came upon this farmer plowing his fields, working the soil in the same way as farmers have done for thousands of years. A short distance away, another farmer was burning the corn stalks in his own field, and thick smoke was wafting through the air. I felt for a moment as if I was in another world, in another time.

Another great one. The range of tones is magnificent. Wonderful composition here, Sean.
